Cooperation in research and development
The ERHG most important event in this field of action is the celebration of the European Historic Gardens Annual Forums.
Under this field of action we also implement transnational research projects like “The Citri et Aurea Project”, we conduct research and publications like “A Europe of united gardens. The role of the European Route of Historic Gardens in the implementation of the cultural policy of the European Union” or the “Identification and Analysis of Problems in Historic Gardens during Covid19”, we patronage seminars, like "Four Seasons in the Gardens” at the Gardens of the Royal Castle in Warsaw or scientific conferences like The XXVII Scientific Landscape Conference in Cracow or the “1st International Congress of Historic Botanical Gardens” in Lisbon, etc.
Enhancement of Memory, History and European Heritage
The ERHG most important event in this field of action is the yearly celebration of the European Day of Historic Gardens on April 26th.
Under this field of action, the ERHG also develops communication materials like the video series “Gardens that vertebrate Europe” or the series of articles “Historic Gardens and Covid19: Times for reflection and action”, etc.
Cultural and Educational Exchanges for young Europeans
The most relevant initiatives in this field of action are the European Projects in which the ERHG is engaged.
Now, the ERHG has applied for a KA2 European Project and collaborates as partner in another one. Partners of the ERHG are also engaged in different European Projects thanks to the network created.
Contemporary Cultural and Artistic Practices
The ERHG highlights the multitude of Cultural and Artistic Practices organized by our garden partners and elaborates the “Summer Program of Activities” and the “Christmas Program of Activities”.
Under this field of action, the ERHG also collaborates with prestigious institutions by conducting conferences and facilitating students’ exchanges in our historic gardens. The ERHG also allows young Europeans interested in historic gardens’ heritage to participate and exchange knowledge and good practices at our Annual Forums. It is also worth mentioning that our network contributes to facilitate our partners’ collaboration with educational institutions to exchange good practices and to train young Europeans as future garden managers and gardeners.
Cultural Tourism and Sustainable Cultural Development
The most relevant initiative in this field of action is the elaboration of the Tourism Guide “European Historic Gardens: A conscious Trip to Understanding and Caring”.
Under this field of action, the ERHG also patronizes cultural and artistic practices initiated by our historic gardens (e.g., “Tra Selva e Stelle” at Boboli Gardens, a live theatre to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri). It is also worth highlighting that the European Day of Historic Gardens celebration includes the organization of cultural and artistic practices by our garden partners that are all presented in a unique Program of Activities.
