Beginning of National Garden’s history.
- 1852
The National Garden reaches its final size
- 1860
Discovery of the ancient aqueduct of Peisistratus. The ancient aqueduct remains until today the main source of irrigation water, connecting the Garden even more with the history of Athens.
- 1923-1927
In 1923 the Garden starts operating as a public green space and in 1927 a separate public entity is established, responsible for the management of the Garden.
- 2004
The National Garden’s management is granted for 90 years to the City of Athens.
- 2011
The National Garden is officially designated as a Historic Landscape by the Greek Μinistry of Culture.
